The Best Weekend of my Life – HR 2009

For the past week—from Tuesday the fifteenth until Tuesday the twenty-second—I have been thousands of miles away from home in places I never thought I would even begin to visit. I got to see the land where Dorothy went to Oz, pass through the great, if albeit-dark, city of St. Louis, and was able to spend the best four days of my life in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a place I was very reluctant to leave. I met so many people—so many friends—that have seen me through the darkness and held my hand during the harshest of times, and because of that, I can never repay them for what each and every one of them have done for me.

So, without further ado, here is my recap of Horror Realm 2009, starting with the day I left—Tuesday, September 15th.

Tuesday, September 15th

After being in a somewhat-hurried last-minute pack, my mother and I left with a friend to the local Flying J gas station in order to get picked up. But after having to relocate to another Flying J down the street, we finally settled into the waiting room and waited for around an hour for someone to come pick us up. There—at approximately twelve-thirty in the afternoon—we got to meet a few different people whom we only seen at that time; a mother, her nineteen-year-old son, and an older gentleman. At no time did we receive their names, but they were able to comfort the two of us before we started on the adventure of our lifetime.

After departing from our original destination, we made our way across Southeastern Idaho and to Salt Lake City, Utah, where we spent an abysmally-long four hours waiting for the next bus to come get us. While there, we talked to a man named Nate (who appeared to be only a year, if even that, older than me) who said he’d just got out of the Navy. He carried a bag with the Navy’s emblem on it, which only further proved his point. It was nice getting to talk to him and getting to know someone who would be travelling with us for a little while. Honestly, after the first four hours away from home, I’m GLAD my mother came with me. I wouldn’t have wanted to sit by a complete stranger by myself, especially with my laptop. It was bad enough sleeping on a bus. I couldn’t imagine sleeping beside someone I didn’t know.

So, after that, we made our way to Denver, which would take us until the following morning to get to.

Wednesday, September 16th

We arrived at Denver at about six in the morning. Tired, disoriented, and already bus-lagged, we stepped off of the bus and met my aunt and uncle in the terminal. Complete with a place in line and a lunch packed for the following afternoon, we met them for the next little while, only to find that our bus had been delayed—by two extra hours. It was ‘being cleaned’ five blocks over, or so Greyhound said. This, while minor, was a nightmare, especially since we were sure we were going to be late getting into Pittsburgh. Since Mike (Dr. Pus) was going to be picking us up that night, I didn’t want to keep him waiting; or worse, have him come get me at some horrid hour of the night. Thankfully though, the bus did eventually come, and we got rolling on our way.

We arrived at St. Louis later that night—at least, if memory serves me correct. Our layover wasn’t bad there, but having to depart from Denver two hours late (at around noon) and then get into St. Louis at eight was horrible. We ate at McDonalds at that time and then, very, very slowly, began to wait for the trip back home.

Thank God it would only take one more day to get there.

Thursday, September 17th

St. Louis to Pittsburgh—Longest. Fucking. Bus. Ride. Ever. In all capital letters, each word with its own sentence, and all the nasty three, four, five, and six and seven-letter words you can muster, all in one. Rolling through Kansas (or, at least, what I think was Kansas) for hours on end was too horrible for words. That part of the trip was so bad that I can’t even remember who or what I saw that day; it was that bad. I did a lot of sleeping on that trip; you had nothing to worry about there. I was also accompanied by a copy of Jonathan Maberry’s Dead Man’s Song, so at least I had something to do.

By the time we switched bus drivers from a stop in Louisiana and got back on schedule (thanks to a helpful bus driver,) we got into Pittsburgh by six-thirty, almost exactly on time. And what happens when we step out of the station no more than five minutes later?

“Hey! Kody!”

I turn, look up, and see someone in a tanish-white van waving at me. Then, after a moment or recollection, I realize it can be the one, the only, Dr. Michael West, AKA Dr. Pus of Library of the Living Dead. My friend, my publisher, and a man who’s been an innumerable support to me for the past few years—I, Kody Boye, was given the honor of being picked up and driven to the Crowne Plaza Hotel by him. With him was horror authoress Rhiannon Frater, whom I recognized almost immediately by her beautiful mane of wine-colored hair. I was promptly introduced to Nom Nom, the zombie rabbit, and was then given the FYI by Dr. Pus about the barbecue that night and what else would be happening.

When we got to the Crowne Plaza Hotel and crawled out of Doc’s Van, I was immediately assaulted by a group of people—T. Patrick Rooney, AKA Unoshato; Mike Mitchell, AKA Darkwingmantis; and VIc, who is… well, hot Vic (which he definitely is; I shit you not.) I think Mr. Mitchell was the first to hug me before Rhiannon dug in and started molesting me to the point of no return. I was convinced that I would end up as dinner by the time we broke away from her.

Next in line was April the Zombiefarmer and Pam, the Florida Possum, whom I did not know was actually her until the following day (sorry Pam!) I easily identified April by the sound of her voice (‘I made it myself’ rings through my head daily, no worries.’) So, after being ushered into our room by the lot of them, my mother and I showered, made sure family knew we were there, and then made our way down to the lobby. I met the beautiful and wonderful Robin Eduardo as I was making my way into the lobby, and met Matthew Baugh soon after (if memory serves me correctly. I’m trying to go in order here.) I’d come down by myself while my mother finished arranging things to wait for Rich, who was our ride back to the barbecue. So, after telling Robin and Matthew that I would see them around, I made my way back up into our room, got my mother, and waited outside until Rich got us to the barbecue.

And man… that barbecue… was fucking amazing.

Basically, I knocked bowling pins over by meeting almost everybody in a row. I met Jacob Kier of Permuted Press, D.L Snell, author of Roses of Blood on Barbwire Vines, Travis Adkins, David Dunwoody, author of Empire, Dan Galli, whose done tons of work for both Permuted and Library of the Living Dead Press, Greg Michaels and his duo of Josh and Kenny, and so many other people that I’m probably forgetting, but will most likely add in later once they tell me they were there. The barbecue was a blast. I got to see heels broken, drinks thrown, and laps sat-in. I also got to see Ken Foree, whose a giant of a man, and Tiffany Shepis, whom I didn’t know was her until later.

So, after partying for around four hours, my mother and I had to leave and recover from our bus trip. But that first night was just… just wow. There’s no words to describe how amazingly-fun it was to meet everyone in a relaxed, down-to-earth environment. I also (almost) got to make out with Rich’s dog Kiki, but I didn’t both to stick my tongue out, so I don’t think it counts as a makeout session, haha.

Friday, September 18th

Convention day number one. I did not want to get out of bed at all, but the excitement of the entire thing forced me to rise at a good nine-or-so o’clock. After showering, dressing, and making my way down to breakfast with my mother, we met Brad Zipprich and his wife Tracey, and promptly had breakfast with them. After I finished eating, I wandered over to where April, Mike Mitchell, and Pam were sitting, then presumed to nearly dump Patrick Rooney’s not-yet-laminated fiancé on hard waffles that had had syrup on them. Thankfully, Laura was not harmed, and all was well as I made my way over to do the morning activities with Patrick, Mike, April, Vic and Pam.

While Mike and Vic made their way to get gas or something in particular, and while Patrick and April went to go get flat-Laura laminated, Pam and I made our way into Walgreens to find two things—one, a belt, and two, a shirt and markers for Jessica’s (FloPoSpawn on the Library Forums, and Pam’s daughter) shirt. Pam wanted a signed shirt from all the Librarians to send, so we did that and waited. I had a nice talk with Pam about what she did and about how the area looked while we waited for the others to return.

Once done on our morning run, we returned to the hotel and wandered around for a while. Then, once finished looking at the pre-setup, I, myself, April, Pam and Robert and Laura Best wandered over to the mall across the street. It wasn’t long before we wandered away from one another, though Mike, April, Pan and I stayed in a group. We went to Hot Topic to get Pam some new shoes, went inside a Victoria’s Secret (where I terrified an employee by fondling a headless mannequin’s breast,) and followed April into a Hello Kitty-slash-candy store. This was after April ran—literally ran—down an escalator after seeing Hello Kitty. We also had slushies, and April and I shared some cheese thingy from Taco Bell before we headed back to the con.

So… after the after-breakfast activities, the tables were setup and things were ready to go, I met a few other people whom I had not seen before that. I met Anna (Butterup on the Permuted forums,) who lent me her belt because I’d forgotten mine; Eric S. Brown, Steven North, Scott Johnson and his wife, and J.J Melzer and his girlfriend. Again, I might be forgetting people, so don’t quote me on that.

After greeting the new arrivals, I sat down, juiced by caffeine and Kazoozles, and prepared to sign and sell books.

It’s not easy to describe the feeling of knowing that you’re going to be interacting with people who will be buying your books. I guess, in a way, it’s a sense of euphoria—an enlightened feeling you get when you know all your hard work has paid off. My initial insecurities about selling Sunrise quickly faded, and I signed and sold at least four or five books that day. The convention closed around five (if memory serves correct,) and I proceeded to hang around with a group of regulars I’d grown attached to in the first day—Robert and Laura Best, Pam, April, Brad Zipprich and his wife Tracey, Mike Mitchell, and Vic and Patrick. We spent the latter half of the evening walking around, talking about what had happened for the day, and generally screwing around out back with each other. I rolled down a hill, took April with me, and made pervy comments to my fellow Librarians. It was all in good fun.

I went to bed around one or so, if memory serves correct.

Saturday, September 19th

The following Saturday, I rose and quickly ran down into the lobby to greet my people. While walking around the convention for the first little while, waiting to sign books and the like, I contemplated how Saturday would technically be my last day and how I wanted to spend it. So, while I wasn’t selling books, I hung out with friends and made sure to make the best of my time. Saturday was, undoubtedly, the best day of the convention, mostly because it was a full selling day and because I got to hang around with the regular people I was going around with. It was also on Saturday that I got the majority of my books signed. Due to the fact that Friday was a busy day, and because I didn’t want to bother the people who had just gotten in, I waited until the others arrived. I got to meet the honorable and successful J.L Borne, who rose from so-called shame to fame with his novel Day by Day Armageddon. I won’t go into detail about what I received/purchased until the end of the journal, but I’ll say that Saturday was the best day sales-wise. I also got to meet my friend Cinsearae Santiago, who brought me a little goodie bag. Anyone who attended the con will know that I was promoing her stuff; and by God, did she not give you some cool shwag? She did most, if not all, of the art on that stuff. Along with Cinsearae, I also met Michelle McCrary, her husband Mike, and helped Patrick and Vic with their flash fiction piece, playing editor and helping them get it from my laptop to the hotel computer. I, too, saw the elusive Z.A Recht of Plague of the Dead fame, but only for a brief moment. I could hardly see him under his hat.

After convention hours, I, again, hung out with my regular group. I went to see the U.S premiere of Zone of the Dead with a group of friends and had a wonderful night in general. Then, after the movie ended, I made my way up into fellow convention goer Steve Cook’s room, with plans to celebrate Rhiannon’s signing of the As the World Dies TV contract. We had people come to the room to tell us to be quiet, had the hotel pay for rooms, then had to leave because we couldn’t contain our excitement. When that ended, myself, Mike Mitchell and April ushered Patrick Rooney and Vic off, since they had to leave to get on their plane. It was sad saying goodbye, and it made me realize how hard it was to do so.

I didn’t go to bed until four that night.

Saturday was, sadly, my last full night.

I was, and wasn’t, looking forward to tomorrow.

Sunday, September 20th

On the last day of the con, I sluggishly rose from bed, dressed, and meandered down to the lobby and almost immediately made my way into the dealer room. While sitting at the table, trying to sell and give away the last of my stuff, I had a sort of ‘fuck it’ moment and proceeded to wander away from the convention. I spent time with a friend whom I grew rather attached to, and proceeded to spend most to the rest of the day with him. But, I can’t forget to mention something—my author panel.

I was on the author panel with fellow writers Rhiannon Frater and Robert R. Best, and read my story Jade from Library of Horror Press’ upcoming Horrology anthology. But before that, I got to meet and talk to Rebecca Mayday, who moderated the panel and edited the Zombology anthologies. I got to see her the day before, and congratulate her on her doctorate, but not really talk to her. She was a pleasure to meet and a great moderator. We all got great questions from the audience, particularly Mike Mitchell and Mark M. Johnson, whom I thought I’d known the day before, but didn’t know for sure until that Sunday. The majority of the people attending (as well as Rebecca) said they liked the story. There’ll be YouTube video of it up soon, so I’ll be sure to share it with you.

As it came time to leave, I said my goodbyes to every and anyone I could. I missed a few people because they’d either already left or because I couldn’t find them, but I got to say goodbye with the majority of the people I was with.

So, after Dr. Pus drove us back to the Pittsburgh Greyhound station, we waited until around nine to get back on the bus. We wouldn’t be at St. Louis until six or so Monday morning.

Monday, September 21rst

I won’t rehash everything I said about the trip up, but let’s just that that late Thursday night and early Monday morning was spent reminiscing over what happened on the trip. I won’t lie—I cried. It was hard to leave the people who meant so much to me. They’ve been the ones who have helped me through the roughest patches of my life and made sure I was taken care of during the times I needed to. And, because of that, I felt miserable leaving.

I had some life changing experiences there.

I’ll never forget that weekend.

Tuesday, September 22nd

We got home today, and thank God for it. I would’ve rather had Horror Realm continue on forever, but it was nice to get home. A lady at the bus station helped us switch to the shuttle van so we got home five hours early, and… well, let’s just say everything went well.

I bet you all are wondering just what exactly I got now, huh?

Well, in no particular order…

Signatures on previously-purchased books from:

Travis Adkins for Twilight of the Dead

D.L Snell for Roses of Blood

Z.A Recht for Plague of the Dead

Kim Paffenroth for Dying to Live

Cinsearae Snatiago for Caress of a Psycopath

The collection of Zombology signatures

I purchased and got signed…

Bad Mood Rising by Jonathan Mayberry

Season of Rot by Eric S. Brown

Deadlands by Scott A. Johnson

Zombology II: Return of the Reanimates

Z. Day is Here by Rob Fox

Dead Tide by Stephen A. North

Empire by David Dunwoody

As the World Dies: Siege by Rhiannon Frater

Lakewood Memorial by Robert R. Best

The Apocalypse Shift by Derek J. Goodman

The Zombie Chronicles: Escape Audiobook by James Melzer

A button from an art vendor, whose name I cannot remember.

I was also generously given a copy of After Twilight: Walking with the Dead by Travis Adkins, Beneath the Mask by Stephen North, The Crow Trilogy by Jessica Brown, Bits of the Dead with Mark M. Johnson, and was able to swap book-for-book with J.L Bourne, Sunrise for Day by Day Armageddon.

So, in all, it was a great trip—a life-changing experience to be sure. But I can’t forget to praise, thank and compliment everyone whom I met on the trip. So, without further ado…

Special Thanks to…

Dr. Pus – You are an AMAZING and generous man. I can’t even begin to list everything you’ve done for me, but from believing in me since Notice Me two years ago, to helping me and my mom get to Horror Realm, and to publishing Sunrise, you’ve been an innumerable support in everything I’ve done, and I can’t thank you enough.

Rhiannon Frater and her husband Corey – Rhi, I don’t have to tell you this, but you’re beautiful, and you’re an extremely talented writer. You’ve come so far in… what? A little more than a year? You’ve come out of nowhere and taken the community by storm, and for that, I envy you. And Corey—thanks for being such a great, amazing guy, and for sticking by me despite us not knowing each other all too well. It’s great to know that I’ve got a friend in you.

Patrick and Vic – I love you, Uno, and I love you to death, Vic. Both of you are amazing, and I had a lot of fun spending time with the two of you. It was great getting to meet two of my favorite people face to face, and I didn’t regret a moment we spent together. And Vic—thanks for Saturday night. I love you, man.

April – There’s no words to describe how much fun I had with you. From getting lost on the way to Walgreens, to talking with you up in your room, I had so much fun talking to you and getting to see the real you. Don’t ever let anything anyone says to you get your down, because I know the real April. I know she’s smart, funny, beautiful, and could probably kill me with a shovel if the need really come down to it.

Pam – I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you sooner, but I’m glad I got to get to know you a little better up at the convention. I haven’t known you for as long as I’ve known the others, but it was great getting to see a little more of you up in Pittsburgh. I’m glad you got home safely and I hope you had fun, despite the few times you got sick.

Mike Mitchell – I don’t need to tell you how much spending time with you at the con meant to me. I had a great time groping mannequins and trying on hats at the Halloween store. The time we spent together meant a lot.

Robert and Laura Best – You two are amazing, you really are. It’s hard to find a couple like the two of you. It’s nice to see that people can still be so close to each other in this day and age.

Derek J. Goodman – I had a shitton of fun sitting next to you at the con. Congrats on selling all your books. You deserve it!

Anna – I’m sorry about all the stuff you’ve gone through recently, but you’re strong. I know you’ll make it through everything you’ve been going through. I hope you got home all right, and I look forward to seeing you again. I’ll send your belt home soon. Thanks for helping me keep my pants on!

Steve Cook – I didn’t see a lot of you, but it was nice meeting the guy who’s supporting one of my best friends so much. Thanks for everything you’ve done.

Jacob Kier – Permuted Press fame, The Boss, The Man—you’re freaking huge and you’re freaking wonderful. I love you so much. I only have one complaint—I didn’t get the punch in the face you promised at the con. ;)

D.L Snell – I still feel bad about not knowing whether you were really you at the con. I thought Jacob was screwing with me because I didn’t think you’d be arriving that night. It was great getting to meet you!

Travis Adkins – People weren’t lying about what they were saying about you last year. DAYUM! Just dayum, Travis. You’re one sexy piece of man, and it was great getting to meet you. You’re so kind and generous, but remember—the money will be in your pants next year. You said you didn’t care. :P

Kim Paffenroth – It was great getting to meet you there, even though I didn’t recognize you until way later. Your hair’s grown out—but don’t cut it! I think it suits you.

David Dunwoody – Ah, the Dunwoody, who has stolen my heart by his honesty and good ways so. I’m glad I got to pick up a copy of the Permuted version of Empire, and I will most definitely be picking up the Pocketbook edition as well. I’m glad I got to spend a little time with you at the barbecue, and I hope you made the trip home all right.

Z.A Recht – I didn’t see you for long, but thanks for signing my book! I blame your damn hat. If you were going for low-key, it sure as hell worked, haha.

Robin Eduardo – Don’t worry about the stuff you’re going through. You’re beautiful and you will always be beautiful. Just remember—I saw that thing with you know who in the who and the what now, so don’t be tellin’ me I didn’t see nuttin’. Haha!

Eric S. Brown – Lighten up a little, mister! You’re famous as hell, and it was an honor getting to meet you! I can’t wait to dig into Season of Rot!

Steven A. North – Thank you, Steve. You’ve been here with me for a long time. It means a lot. Thank you for everything you did for me at Horror Realm. I appreciate it.

Mark M. Johnson and his wife – Mark, Thanks for signing Zombology, and thank you for giving me a copy of Bits of the Dead. I really appreciate it. Also—thanks for attending the reading. I really appreciate it. I’m sorry I didn’t recognize you sooner. I still feel bad. Your wife’s name escapes me now, but I had a great time chatting with the two of you. Your support means the world.

Cinsearae Santiago and her husband, Danny – Thanks for coming and seeing me, guys! It was great meeting you. Cin—you’re beautiful, and Danny—MEOW! Thanks for stocking me with goodie-bags, Cin; they’re gone. And thanks for signing Caress and stocking me with some goodies, hehe.

Mark (Macabrezombie) and his girl, Sandy – Thanks for coming around to see me. I’m glad I got to meet the both of you. It was a joy.

Scott A. Johnson – We’re the same height, mister, so don’t go pulling short comments on me, haha! It was great meeting you, and thanks for catching my eye when you got in. I’m really looking forward to starting Deadlands and getting City of Demons soon.

James Melzer and Jenny – It was GREAT finally getting to meet you, James. I can’t wait to listen to Escape. And don’t worry—your Facebook is still my property. I’ve marked it as my own. And again, thanks for bringing Jenny along. I’m so glad I got to meet her.

Matthew Baugh – It was so great to meet you. Again, thank you for all you’ve done for me. I appreciate it so much. I regret not being able to spend more time with you, but what little time we did spend together was great.

Zombie Zak – Damn you and your cookie-eating ways! It’s your fault I said hi to Ken Foree with a mouthful of cookie in my mouth! Haha! It was great meeting you, and I’m glad you and the Melzer got in safely.

Brad Zipprich and his wife, Tracey – It was great meeting the two of you, and having breakfast with you as well. I also enjoyed hanging out with you two when we did. Congrats for everything. I’m glad I got to meet the two of you.

Greg Michaels, Kenny and Josh – I’m sorry I didn’t get to see more of you, Greg, and I’m sorry I didn’t get to know Kenny and Josh a little better, but is was great seeing you while I did. As I say—Hurrah to the Gerg!

J.L Bourne – I was honored to meet you. You’ve gone from the bottom to the top in such a short period of time. Self-publishing, Permuted, now Simon and Schushter. What’s next—Day by Day the movie? I’m totally rooting for you. As I said, it was an honor, and again, I’m honored you wanted to swap books with me.

Dan Galli – I won’t lie, Dan—every time I saw you, I just wanted to grab you and give you a big hug. I managed to resist, somehow. I figured it would’ve got irritating after a while anyhow, so I kept my paws for myself (although it was very, very hard.) Thanks for everything you’ve done. You’re extremely talented. I love what you’ve done with Sunrise and everything else you’ve worked on. Keep up the great work.

Jessica Brown – You’re so kind and generous. You didn’t have to bring me The Crow trilogy. I’m glad I got to meet you, and I hope I get to see you again next year. You’re awesome!

And finally, a special thanks goes out to the greatest guy I have never known. I won’t name names, but you know who you are (and anyone who was at the con will know to.) Thanks for giving me the greatest weekend of my life. I’ll never be able to repay you, but by God, I’ll try until the day I die.

I think I’ve got everybody. This’ll be updated if I somehow forgot someone. Thanks for giving me the greatest time of my life, everyone!

An Amorous Thing - A short story collection by Kody Boye, coming 2011!

Hello everyone,

I am proud to announce that my first short story collection, tentatively titled An Amorous Thing, will be released from Lame Goat Press in 2011. This collection will revolve around the theme of affection. Whether it be from the heart of a killer who wants to be loved, or someone who wants to be free, this collection will feature a variety of stories covering the darker realms of affection and what it can do to people.

Here's what the editor in chief of Lame Goat, Christopher Jacobsmeyer, said on the Lamegoat Proboards forum:

I'm happy to announce that Lame Goat Press, for its second project, will be publishing a collection of short stories by Kody Boye, tentatively titled An Amorous Thing. Given the state of finances, family life, and other issues, this should be released early to mid '11. Kody's work is top notch, and I'm excited to be working with him on such a collection!

There is no current list of titles, but I can assure you, the majority of the stories have already been selected or drawn out with the publisher. It will contain at least 13-15 stories.

I'll be sure to let everyone know about this as progress develops.

Thank you,

~ Kody
Lots of stupid fucking shit. Seriously. Lots. Of. Stupid. Fucking. Shit.

<lj-embed id="12" />
Alanis seems to be the only thing that puts me in a good mood. I swear, I'll write her an epic twenty-page letter one day telling her how much her music has kept me from doing completely stupid shit. I found this hidden song on her Jagged Little Pill (Acoustic) album last night, after the song 'You Hope' (or something similar.)

as per the journal title, lots of shit is going on in my life. Obviously, most of you know this.

My grandpa's got cancer. It'll kill him within the next few weeks, if not days.

I'm not close to him, but my mother is.

Honestly, I don't know. This journal is going to end up turning into a complete and utter rant about my life and how shitty I think it is, so I'm cutting it here. If you don't read it, I don't care. If you do, thank you.

So, like I was saying, my grandpa has cancer--six tumors to be exact. They're melignant, and spreading. A few of them are closing off his airway. He'll starve to death, or suffocate.

The people on the Permuted Press forum have, as always, been supportive. You guys here at LJ are too, but I try to refrain from posting depressing shit on my LJ because, quite frankly, it makes me seem like a whiny teenager (which I am--I will not deny that.) They've assured me that my grandfather will most likely not suffer in his last moments.

I made a YouTube video questioning the whole God Vs. Death Vs. Pain Vs. People Who Don't Believe in God debate. If you're really interested, here it is.

<lj-embed id="13" />
.Yes. I'm fat. Shut up. I'm on another diet. -_- I also look like shit because I haven't shaved, but that's ok, because I don't really give a fuck what people on the street think of me. They're smart enough to keep their mouths shut, otherwise I'd go verbally apeshit on their asses and make them feel like complete, unworthy scum (which they are.)

Also, I just realized that I accidentally turned the camera off. I'll make a second, longer half to this video and post it as a video response.

Anyway, like I was saying, the whole thing bothers me. I don't believe in God, but I don't believe we simply wink out either.

I don't know.

I'm stopping this here.

Fuck it. Really, just fuck it.

One of these soldiers, a man by the name of corporal Jamie Marks, fears for their safety when sergeant Brooks starts making irrational decisions and rearranging the chain of command.

Regardless of this small issue, they have more to worry about other than who's in command or whose rank is higher than the other. When the zombies flock to the base and break in through the gate, Dakota is split away from his best friend.

Now, forced to face the reality of not seeing Steve again, he turns to his friend in his time of need.

When the sun rises, the fight for survival is only beginning, especially when a new kind of zombie is just starting to make itself known.

----------------------------------------------

Also, Jodi Lee posted a review, giving it four stars! Check that (and an interview with me) out here:

Read the rest of editor-in-chef/publisher Jodi Lee’s interview by clicking here.

Interviewed by Jodi Lee

It features a young man who will go to ANY stakes to get revenge... for his kitten. You can find that anthology here: http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/the-gratista-vampire-clan-presents-a-look-into-the-mirror-darkly/6679298

And finally, the fourth and final installment of HIS TOUCH IS OF ICE is in the Dark Gothic Resurrected Magazine. Oh, how I loathe that thing, but now I can finally forget about it (lol, old writing = blehage for me.) You can find that here, if you're interested: http://www.lulu.com/content/paperback-book/dark-gothic-resurrected-magazine-spring-2009/6281713

So, yeah -- three pubs in one day is pretty good, I say. Formatting doesn't take too long, and it's more fun than anything. And hey, I'm getting paid (a number with three digits,) so I'm not complaining.

I've also been rewriting (and finally for that) my dark fantasy novel Blood, mainly due to my mother wanting me to write it (but there's a bigger story behind why I started again.) It's at 95k and climbing. In total, I've written over 100k since January 11th. *stupid grin*

In that 100k, I also finished a short story called Jossiah's Bones, as well as a story called We Dream in Aquamarine. One of said stories was written because I was invited to submit to something (though I can't say much about that.

Dan Galli is AMAZING! It's located in the area where speach and speach developtment is located. The doctor said that the worst that could possibly happen is that I'd lose speech. He said I wouldn't be myself for a little while ( a few months) after that, lol.

We'll be going to Salt Lake City to have my head cut open and the tumor biopsied.

Just want to let you know that. Two different doctors said that I shouldn't have any problems. It's read on the surface of my brain, so they'll be able to get it out pretty easy.

To relate what's been more commonly asked, it's so small that it doesn't really have any risk. It's located on the top of my brain, on the left side (up in the speech and speech development area.) It's so small that they'll most likely only have to drill a hole the size of a quarter to biopsy, then remove it.

I'll keep you guys updated. I may be going to Salt Lake City Friday, but that's not definite. They haven't called yet.

~ Kody

I find humor in the strangest places. Particularly, when someone dubs over the market scene from Aladin with Sharolaid's voice. (Unban Sharolaid YouTube!)
2. There's more than one person inside of me. This is, most likely, influenced by my very eccentric nature.

3. My dream joke is to walk up to someone in a supermarket, ask them where the cornbread it, then follow them for a few feet. When they turn around to go look for it, I'll flee and never return again.

4. Recently, It's been pissing me off when they say Obama is the first BLACK president. I say that because he's not black; he's biracial. (That's just something weird though.)

5. It wasn't too long ago when I was walking through a store and started singing the infamous I Kissed a Girl under my breath. I said 'hope my boyfriend don't mind it' when I walked past someone. I looked over my shoulder and saw said guy staring at me in an odd way. (I'm not sure if he was horrified, or turned on...)

6. I'm probably one of the few people who can see the words 'Space Cops' and see gay porn flicks. I'm also one of the few people that will keep an active forum thread about it going, then joke that I want to make a gay sci-fi anthology about gay space cop porn.

And, to add more to this journal, here's some random pictures:

So, I tag...

Ian, Mike, Rakie, Joel, Cate and Tricia.
Adventures in Job Hunting

So, earlier last year, I had ranted on how I couldn't get a job because of my long hair.

Now that my hair's shorter, I decided to go out and try to find a job.

This time, though, I decided to hit everywhere I could. Well, except the ribbon store, because there was all chicks in there (no surprise, but for some reason I'm like... uh, no thanks) and the pizza and Chinese place (the former had missionaries, the older had some kind of meeting/party going on.)

So, to start my journey, I want over to the supermarket and got a Pepsi and an onion (the onion was for my mother.) I also got an application from a fast food restaurant near the supermarket and turned a typed app into the supermarket (and it's been saved, and I can type one of the food ones. Ah, the joy of changing dates and printing pre-written applications.)

I got another application from a taco place.

Not surprisingly, tons of businesses weren't hiring. I went into the paper and asked a lady for an application. She said they didn't have one (when I had got one a few months prior.) She told me to return an hour later and talk to the manager. I'm like, 'Pfft, I'm not coming back.' My point for going there was to get an application and turn in my resume, to which the old ladies would keel over from heart attacks and hire me on the spot. Doesn't look like that'll be happening though.

I plan to fill out my -measly- two applications and take them back later in the week.

I'd prefer to have enough money to move out when I'm eighteen, lol.

But, yeah. It's a boring post, but...

Oh, and I almost forgot. I met a German/foreign person! He asked, 'Postoffice?' and I gave him directions. Then he walked IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION.

I thought it was funny.

Gosh.
